All About Harry Potter Actor Rupert Grint

You might not know his name, but unless you have been living under a rock for the past nine years you would certainly know his face. Rupert Grint is mainly known for his acting as Harry Potter's Ron Weasley. Since 2001 he has been seen all over the world in the ultra successful Potter movies.

Rupert Grint was brought into the world on August 24, 1988 in Harlowe a town in the south of England. He is the eldest of five children with one brother and three other sisters making up his family. Before he was handed the role of Ron, he had only been in school performances and skits. However, since he was a huge fan of the Harry Potter books, he was eager to audition for the part.

Rupert heard about the Harry Potter auditions through the BBC website and was desperate to win the part. He sent in an audition tape in which he impersonated his drama teacher. Following this initial tape he had to go through a further six auditions that involved speaking lines from the script and doing a screen test. Finally he was awarded the role as Ron Weasley at the age of 11.

The movie was an instant success and Rupert got great reviews for his performance as the much loved Ron Weasley. After his initial performances he was signed to reprise his role as Ron in following Harry Potter movies. He was awarded for his performances by various institutions such as the Independent Press Academy.

Besides being busy making the Harry Potter movies, Rupert has also been in Thunderpants in 2002 where he played a science nerd and Driving Lessons, in which he starred with Julie Walters in a coming of age comedy. The former was a box office bomb and the film received bad reviews from critics, but the latter was well received and earned him positive reviews for his leading role with Walters. He has also been involved with the BBC performing radio shows.

Coming up there are several projects to be released or in various stages of completion and negotiation. 2010 will see the penultimate Harry Potter film released: HP and the Deathly Hallows Part One. In 2011 the final Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part Two. There are also two other movies waiting release - Cherrybomb and Wild Target.

It seems that Rupert Grint will have no problems branching out from the Harry Potter franchise to form a successful acting career. He has consistently received good reviews for his on screen work in the Harry Potter movies and his other projects. In fact, critics of the latest Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince claimed that Rupert was the stand out among the three stars of the movie.

It seems that Rupert Grint has all his bases covered having purchased an ice cream truck to fulfill his childhood dream of being an ice cream salesman. If the acting does not work for him in future he can turn back to ice cream! In all likelihood though his career will keep ticking along as he takes on more and more adult roles as a follow up to the conclusion of the Harry Potter films.
